For several years i have been using Niwaki Garden Snips for deadheading our roses and fine work when my felco secatures are too big. Because the closure is an elasticated band, the covering on the handle has started to lift so i invested in a pair of these darlec snips.
The first thing i noticed is that this is a lot heavier compared to the Niwaki. The second thing is that there is a screw holding it together for easy maintenance rather than the rivet on the Niwaki. The darlac snips have a really nice feel, especially the handles though i have pinched the ball of my hand once when using as i have large hands. The blades are really robust and have a groove in for sap. The closing clasp is easy to use one handed and is the main reason i selected this particular model. Very pleased and they feel like they will give many years service.

Given a pair for Christmas, very useful for general tidying up in the borders, the fine blades are good for delicate work. They are easy to wipe clean and don’t rust unlike my previous Japanese ones. I have them in a holster so always handy. About to order a pair as a present.
