Sales at Darlac, the cutting tools experts, have increased 30% since the acquisition of the company by Mr Fothergill’s Seeds, some 12 months ago, on August 7th 2017.
The company has seen the number of retail stockists increase by 300 outlets including the addition of Notcutts group of centres

Within the year Darlac has developed the network of agents so that there is national coverage for the brand with the significant addition of the Denholm Agency covering the north of England, Scotland and Ireland. The recent GLAS show in Dublin saw the relaunch of Darlac in Ireland and several new accounts are already on board.

Business Development Manager Chris Owen is delighted with the first year of trading. “We knew that Darlac was under-represented in the garden centre market and the response from the trade has been phenomenal. Darlac tools have a great quality at affordable prices image which fits neatly into any offering – whether as the main brand or the secondary brand. All stockists are giving us great feedback on positive customer reaction and sales.”

The company continues to win Best Buy and Best Product awards in the gardening press with recent “wins” in Gardeners’ World Magazine, Kitchen Garden Magazine and Amateur Gardening. The provision of quality engineered products has not changed.

Looking ahead, Chris said: “We are confident we can develop the Darlac distribution further in the year ahead. After the successful launch of our Rhino secateurs this spring, we have some very positive product launches coming up and we think GLEE will be very exciting!”
